Born in Belen, New Mexico, Dr. Howard M. Achen, considers himself a native New Mexican. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. In 1977 he received his Doctor of Dental Science degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri.

  He opened up his first practice upon graduation in Kansas City. Although he enjoyed his Kansas City patients, the winters were unbearable and decided to head back to New Mexico. In 1979, practice began at the location he is
still at today. Dr. Achen is a member of the Southwest District Dental Society, New Mexico Dental Society, American Dental Association, and the American Association of Sedation Dentistry. He has continued to keep up with the changes and growth in dentistry by attending continuing education classes throughout the United States.

  Dr. Achen offers services in all areas of dentistry. Preventive services of prophylaxis (teeth cleaning), radiographs (x-rays) and through exams. Restorative dentistry services of composite restorations (white fillings), endodontics (root canals), extractions, and periodontics (gum disease).
